The Sabetha Blue Jays baseball team are in the 3A State Tournament for the first time since 2019. Which was also the last night Sabetha won the State Title.
Sabetha pulled off an incredible comeback last week to win the Regional Title in Marysville against Jefferson West.
Sabetha got down 5-0 midway through the game but scored four in the fourth and five in the fifth to rally for the 9-6 win to advance to Manhattan this week.
Freshman Mitchell Kramer was huge for the Blue Jays as he went 3 for 3 with a single, double, and triple with three RBI’s and a run scored against the Tigers.
In the four run fourth inning, Mitchell hit a 2-RBI triple that got Sabetha within 5-3 and he would score moments later on a wild pitch to make it 5-4.
In the five run fifth inning, he capped it off win an RBI double that added a little extra insurance late in the game.
Mitchell sports a .400 batting average with three doubles, a triple, and 10 RBI’s this season. He’s also 10 for 11 on stolen base attempts.
Sabetha is the 6-seed at the 3A State Tournament in Manhattan with a 15-7 record and will play 3-seed Columbus on Thursday night at 5:45 PM.
