Silver Lake junior Dayne Johnson powered the Eagles to a 3rd place finish at the 3A State Basketball Tournament this past week in Hutchinson.

The Eagles ended #3 ranked Lakin’s 20-game winning streak in the first round with Dayne finishing with 27 points and eight rebounds. He also surpassed 1,000 career points in that win against the Broncs.

In the semifinal loss to #1 ranked Goodland, Dayne poured in 28 points and nine rebounds while hitting 12-of-13 free throws.

In the wire-to-wire win over top-seed Galena, Dayne finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds while hitting 5-of-10 shots and 6-of-9 free throws.

Dayne entered the state tournament leading the Eagles scoring at 21 points per game while adding eight rebounds, and three assists per game.

His season earned him First Team All-League honors in the Big East.
