Linn Girls Basketball

The Linn girls basketball team captured their first ever state basketball championship.
It was an incredible season capped off by an overtime 57-50 win over league rival Hanover in the 1A-II State Championship game this past weekend in Emporia.
In the first round win over Argonia, Sophia Hiltgen led the way with 24 points which included going 5-for-7 from three. Gretchen Bott and Geni Turk finished with 10 points each while Ella Oehmke added six points and five rebounds.
In the semifinal win over Bucklin, Gretchen Bott stuffed the stat-sheet with 20 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. Josie Oehmke added 13 points while Baileigh Peters finished with 10 points, four assists, and two steals.
In the championship win over Hanover, Baileigh Peters finished with a game-high 22 points with five rebounds and three assists. Gretchen Bott poured in 16 points, four rebounds, and three steals. Josie Oehmke and Sophia Hiltgen each finished with six points with Oehmke adding three steals and Hiltgen adding a team-high eight rebounds.
Sub-State Results: Tescott (67-10), and Blue Valley-Randolph (28-24)
State Results: Argonia (60-43), Bucklin (55-49), and Hanover (57-50 OT)
Linn finishes the season 24-5 overall which included an 8-2 mark in Twin Valley League play.
