Silver Lake Girls Basketball

For the second time in the last three seasons, the Silver Lake girls basketball team are Class 3A State Champions. The Eagles defeated Osage City 60-44 in the Championship game on Saturday in Hutchinson.
It’s their eighth title in school history as the Eagles have compiled a 35-12 overall record across 18 state tournament berths. This season ended with an overall record of 28-1 with their lone loss coming against Rock Creek on Jan 27. The Eagles won their last 15 games of the season and added the Big East League title to this season’s resume.
In the state semifinal win against Holcomb, Kailyn Hanni finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Karys Deiter added 13 points and six rebounds while Savanah Wende added 11 points and three steals. Holcomb led the game by as many as eight in the first quarter, but the Eagles used a 16-0 scoring run in the second quarter to help with the comeback effort.
In the title game against Osage City, Kailyn Hanni put together another incredible stat-line to close her career with the Eagles finishing with 21 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists. Karys Deiter added 19 points and four rebounds while Savanah Wende added 10 points and four rebounds. Paige Heiman finished with six points and five rebounds while Jaylie Whitehead chipped in with four points and four assists.
