Silver Lake junior Kailyn Hanni put together a dynamite effort across the board in the Eagles runner-up finish in the Class 3A State Basketball Tournament in Hutchinson.
In the first round win over Girard, Kailyn had 22 points, 15 rebounds, eight assists, and five steals while hitting 16-of-19 free throws. The 16 made free throws tied a 3A State Tournament record which was set back in 1995.
In the comeback semifinal win against Hesston, Kailyn finished with 28 points, six assists, and four rebounds while hitting 6-of-9 shots and 15-of-17 free throws.
In the 48-45 loss to Halstead in the title game, Kailyn finished with 19 points, seven rebounds, and four assists while hitting 7-of-8 free throws.
Kailyn hit 38-of-44 free throws which shattered the state tournament record for three throws made with the previous mark being 29.
During the season, Kailyn averaging over 17 points, six assists, six rebounds, and three steals per game and was named First Team All-League in the Big East.
