Giant Communications and JCN Telephone Company ROAD TO GLORY presented by Giant Mobile on the MSC Sports Radio Network.

2A Girls Quarterfinal in Manhattan = Doniphan West 60, Chase County 44

Doniphan West set the tone and played like an experienced state team out of the gate with constant full-court pressure defense and aggressive offense as they led 16-8 and was ahead 22-11 after just one quarter. Chase County never got any closer than 26-21 after an 8-0, as the Mustangs got some breathing room with a 17-13 third period and made big plays down the stretch to improve to 18-5 on the season.

Chase County got 29 points from Madelyn Wilson but just three other players combined for 15 as the Bulldogs season ended with a 20-4 record in their first state game since 2017.  The Bulldogs were forced into 18 turnovers and made just 36 percent from the field while also going just 7 of 13 at the foul line.

Doniphan West showed the chemistry and balance they have all season long with Courtney Johnson leading the way with 16 points. Brennah Edie added 12 including a big triple in the fourth quarter while Andi Foster had a night with 11 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals to earn Citizens State Bank and Trust Company of Hiawatha "Player to Bank On" honors. Belle Smith and Katie Johnson each battled foul trouble and had to sit in the second half but Smith still scored 9 points, including five straight at a key stretch in the third frame and Katie Johnson had 6 of her 8 points in the first quarter to get D-West off to a quick start.

D-West was 14 of 20 from the charity stripe and hit 45 percent from the floor while scoring 16 points of turnovers. Every Mustang got to see the state court in their first 2A appearance at Manhattan as Kayte Falk scored two points and Emmyjo Whetstine had one with both girls stepping up and playing bigger minutes because of foul trouble.
