Seven Kanzaland Area Teams Will Start Volleyball Season Preseason Ranked

The volleyball season was action packed for many Kanzaland area teams last year and resulted in a State title for a pair of teams with a third place and fourth place at State, also.

The 2013 volleyball looks to setup coming into the year with the potential to be another stellar year for Kanzaland volleyball and many of the same teams that enjoyed success from last year, look to be primed for success this year possibly, too.

The 2013 Preseason volleyball rankings have been released by the KVA (Kansas Volleyball Association) and seven area teams find themselves ranked to start the season.

Leading the way in the rankings is the Twin Valley League with four teams preseason ranked to start the season.

In Class 1A-Division II, the lady Falcons of B&B sit atop the perch at number one after winning their second straight State title this past year finishing 40-5 on the season. The Falcons return the Class 1A-DII "Player of the Year" and All-State first team player, senior, Laura Sudbeck to anchor the team. While, fellow seniors, Ashley Kramer and Katie Huerter also return after earning first team All-State honors last year.

The Wetmore Cardinals join B&B in the Class 1A-DII Preseason rankings checking in at number eight to start the year after finishing 21-16 last year. The Cardinals return a roster full of young players from last season but have to replace first team All-State player, Dana Kramer and honorable mention All-State player, Alyana Noe.

In Class 1A-Division I, it's another area powerhouse volleyball program starting the season ranked that being the Centralia Panthers who start the season ranked third after placing third at state last year. Panthers finished the year 40-5 last season and return a roster full of experience that includes the return of All-State first team player, Kaitlyn Koch who enters her senior season.

Class 2A, saw a pair of teams from the area in the State tournament last year and both of those teams start the 2013 season ranked number one and two, respectively in Washington County and Jefferson County North. For the Tigers of Washington County they are the reigning 2A champs after going 41-3 last year; they return first team All-State player, Erin Alexander but have to replace the "Player of the Year," in Kylie Penning.

For the lady Chargers they bring back the duo of first team All-State seniors, Jacee Kramer and Jamie Navinskey at outside hitter from a fourth place team last year at State that finished with a 25-16 record.

Class 3A, has the Marysville Bulldogs starting the season ranked after making state last year, they will start the season ranked eighth. Senior, Abi Degenhardt returns for the lady Bulldogs after a season in which she earned honorable mention All-State honors.

In Class 4A the lady Chargers of Santa Fe Trail will start the season ranked eighth, after finishing 28-9 in the 2012 season. Senior, Shelby Dahl returns at middle back after earning honorable All-State as a junior last year.

The 2013 volleyball season looks to be setting up as potentially another stellar season for the Kanzaland area with seven area teams starting the season preseason ranked.
