Sophomore Mark Hernandez for the Immaculata soccer team picked up right where he left off a year ago. After a stellar start to the 2013 campaign, Hernandez earns our athlete of the week.
Hernandez started last year for the Raiders as a freshman. He recorded an impressive 17 goals, five assists and four games with three or more goals. With only three games officially in the books this season, Hernandez increased his production. He only needs seven goals and one more hat trick to tie his season total as he has 10 goals and three hat tricks.
Last week against Atchison, the game was locked up at two goals apiece. With five minutes left in the game, Hernandez found himself in the right place at the right time, scoring the game-winning goal.
Immaculata is 3-0 to start its season. Mark’s older brother Phillip is the keeper for the Raiders and both are off to a fantastic start to the season. The Raiders next match is against Marantha on Thursday, September 12th.
