Macey Gross of the Holton wrestling team puts a medal in the case this past weekend as she won the Silver Lake Tournament.
Macey closed out the tournament by defeating Silver Lake’s Jaiden Whitehead by pinfall.
The Wildcats won the tournament with a team score of 129 which was 37 points more than Santa Fe Trail who finished in second.
This season, Macey is 23-5 overall which includes multiple second place and first place finishes.
She finished in second place at Spring Hill, Basehor, Holton, and the BIT.
Most recently the first place finish at Silver Lake but also finished in first place at Onaga as well. She was a state qualifier last season and finished 4th at state.
She has yet to commit to a college but has had some colleges reach out about continuing her career at the next level.
Macey is the number four ranked wrestler at 120 in the latest rankings from the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association. The Wildcats, as a team, are ranked sixth in the latest 4-1A rankings.
