The Sabetha Bluejays have recently been on one of the most impressive streaks athletics programs in the past five years with state championships across the board in just about every sport you can think of.

Of course, this cannot be done without great athletes and here in the spring sports season the Lady Jays track team has gotten off to a great start thanks in large part to senior Hattie Lukert.

Lukert is coming off a strong performance last week in her season opener at the Lady Jays home quad where she captured the 800 and 1600-meter runs.

It was an impressing showing in her first meet since state track in 2019 where she claimed fifth with a blistering time of 2:24.69.

She also made it to state in 2018 as she finished 10th in the 800-meter run in Wichita while also competing in the 400-meter dash.

Lukert, a Fort Hays State University signee, will look to continue her strong start throughout the season as the Lady Jays get back in action Tuesday at Royal Valley.
