Jumping right into the action at the high school level Pleasant Ridge freshman, Emma Schwinn has put herself at the top level of the competition in the track and field scene competing in the hurdles.
Schwinn capped her freshman year track and field regular season with a strong performance at the Northeast Kansas League meet last week winning the League title in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles. A time of 16.74 captured Schwinn the 100 meter hurdles title, while a time of 50.72 won her the 300 meter hurdles League title. She also competed on the lady Rams 4x100 meter relay team that took third at the NEKL meet.
Over the course of the track and field season Schwinn has racked a multitude of first place finishes in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles sweeping the hurdle titles in several competitions. She won both hurdles events at the Pleasant Ridge Invite, Eudora Invite, Tonganoxie Invite and Northern Heights Invite. She also took second in both events at the Wellsville Invite during the season.
Emma now prepares for Class 3A Regionals and looks to compete for a spot at the State meet in Wichita.
