To etch your name in the record books means you put in a lot of blood, sweat and tears into your sport and put in the work. One gal that was able to etch her name in the record books at Holton is senior, Shay Tanking who now is the all-time leading scorer in Holton girls basketball history.
Holton went 3-0 last week to wrap up the regular season with a 15-5 record and Tanking continue her strong play. The regular season wrapped up for Holton with a 57-10 win over Hiawatha. Tanking dropped 15 points but with her third point on the night she surpassed Jessica Farmer (’96 graduate) as the all-time leading scorer in Holton girls’ basketball history. The Holton senior added two rebounds, five assists and one steal. With her 15 points Tanking sits at 1,175 total points, breaking the old record of 1,162.
On the year Tanking is averaging 17.7 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game.
Tanking and Holton look to continue their season with a postseason run as they host 4A-DII Sub-State action and look to try and earn a spot at State.
