For the last two years the lady Bulldogs of McLouth have made the 2-1A State tournament in softball and are coming off a 20-5 record from last year, a season in which they took third place in Class 2-1A.
The Bulldogs got this season rolling with 11-0 and 11-1 routes of Atchison to open the season and senior, Shannon Greene was right at that front of the early season success against Atchison. Greene in the 11-0 win pitched five innings for the win, recording 11 strikeouts, while adding three hits offensively and in the 11-1 win she recorded a pair of RBI’s to help the Bulldogs pick up the wins.
The senior is looking to build upon a strong career in which includes first team KCSA 2-1A All-State honors from last year as a pitcher and also includes several school records like the most perfect games (7) and career strikeouts. Greene with the win in the circle in the 11-0 win now only needs four more wins for the most career wins in McLouth history.
Greene has already committed to played softball next year at the University of St. Mary’s in Leavenworth but her mind is set on putting together another strong season with her teammates to return to the 2-1A State tournament and make some noise again.
