Doniphan West Mustang, Kenzie Blevins Off to Strong Start in Track

Sprinting & leaping out of the gate to start the track season that is what Doniphan West Mustang junior, Kenzie Blevins has been up to in spring sports as she is off to a strong start.

Blevins last week picked up three gold medals and a silver medal at the ACCHS Invitational to had to her eight first place medals in two other track meets this season so far. Kenzie leapt her way to wins in the triple jump and long jump, while also winning the 200 meter dash and took second in the 100 meter dash (13.43). In the triple jump it was a leap of 35’08.25 that gave the junior first place, but also broke her school record by 15 inches, won the competition by three feet and is her best mark on the season. A leap of 16’01.50 her best this year earned Kenzie the gold in the long jump and behind a time of 27.39 took first in the 200 meter dash.

The Doniphan West junior started the season by dominating that competition at the Oskaloosa and Falls City Invite’s taking first place in the 100 and 200 meter dashes, along with the long and triple jump competitions. Blevins registered her best marks in the 100 and 200 this year at the Oskaloosa Invite with times of 13.10 and 27.30.

Kenzie got a taste of the State track competition last year as a sophomore, placing fifth in Class 1A in the long jump (16’02.50) and looks to be determined and primed to make a return trip to Wichita but this year competing in multiple events in Class 1A, representing Doniphan West.
