Jeff West Tiger, Luke Herring Carries Load to Help Lead Tigers to Playoffs
Luke Herring

For the Jeff West Tigers the football season hasn’t necessarily gone the way they wanted sitting at just 3-5, but the Tigers came up with a pair of victories late in the season in District play to earn a spot in the Class 4A-DII playoffs.

Back on Friday the Tigers took down a tough Perry Lecompton team, beating the Kaws 41-27 to clinch a playoff spot and junior, Luke Herring carried the load in the competition for Jeff West. Herring toted the ball 31 times for 248 yards and a pair of touchdowns, averaging eight yards per carry on the night. The junior added a perfect 5-5 night on extra points, as well to help give the Tigers the win.

Herring on the season has 887 yards on 110 carries with seven touchdowns in six games at runningback, taking over as the starting runningback in week four for the Tigers. Luke has also come up big in the kicking game throughout the season punching through a few field goals for the Tigers.

Jeff West heads into the playoffs for the third straight year and a big part reason the Tigers will be playing in the playoffs has been the play of the junior, Luke Herring.
