JCN Girls & Boys Sweep Home Track Titles While Jeff West Girls & Boys Take Second

JCN Track Invite Results (5-4-18) - Girls & Boys

Area track and field teams competed against each other on Friday as Jefferson County North hosted seven other schools for action. 

It was the host JCN dominating the competition winning both the girls and boys team titles. The lady Chargers racked up 227 total points to win by 67 points, while Jeff West took second and Oskaloosa finished in third. Mclouth, ACCHS, Valley Falls, Doniphan West and Riverbend International rounded out the girls team standings in fourth through eighth. The JCN boys won by a wider margin than the girls winning by 135.5 total points. Jeff West boys earned second place, while Mclouth took third. ACCHS, Valley Falls, Riverbend International, Oskaloosa and Doniphan West placed fourth through eighth for the rest of the boy’s team standings. 

Eighteen total first place finishes led the JCN Chargers on the day and 10 of the 18 came in the boy’s competition. The Charger boys swept the relay events posting times of 44.43, 3:36.45 and 9:13.08 to win the 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays. While also on the track Jirou Gill won the 100 meter dash (11.60), Knox Tweed took first in the 110 meter hurdles (16.36), Mason Noll won the 800 meter run (2:16.04) and Trevor Pentlin ran to the win in the 3200 meter run (10:49.39). In the field events a trio of Charger boys earned first place as Jacob Schrick won the javelin (152'01), Ridge Robertson took first in the pole vault (11'00) and James Kramer won the triple jump (37'06.50). 

JCN lady Chargers just like the boys swept the relay events posting times of 52.10, 4:26.03 and 10:36.17 to win the 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays. Also on the track Rose Wendling won the 3200 meter run (14:05.92) and Kaitlyn Schneider took first in the 800 meter run (2:27.42). The field events saw three lady Chargers claim top spots as Josie Weishaar won the high jump (5'00), while Ravyn Jobbins tossed her way to first in the javelin (107'07) and Annabelle Vaught leapt to the top spot in the long jump (15'05). 

Two Jeff West Tiger competitors won three events each on the day at the JCN Invite on Friday to lead the Tigers. Jordan Hawman sprinted to the gold in the 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes with times of 13.34, 26.99 and 1:00.53. Mariah Murdie swept the girls 100 and 300 meter hurdles with times of 16.77 and 52.35, while also posting the winning leap of 37'01.25 to win the triple jump. Macy Tucker earned first in the girls 1600 meter run (5:57.32), while Makenzie Tucker snagged first place in the girl’s pole vault (8'06) and Alyssa Garza took first in the girl’s discus (114'07). For the Tiger boys Kauli Saili led the way notching throws of 117'10.50 and 40'07 to win the discus and shot put, while Jacob Hamon won the boys 1600 meter run (5:01.22) 

ACCHS Tigers had two first place finishes on the day as Trystin Myers won the boys 300 meter hurdles (43.67) and Tucker Smith took first in the 400 meter dash (52.15). 

Two Valley Falls Dragons notched top finishes in events as Nathan Hawk won the boys high jump (6'02) and Nathan Pickerell won the boys long jump (20'11.50). 

Oskaloosa Bears were led by Jaden Courter as she won the girls shot put (35'05.50).
