2018 TVL Basketball Tournament -- Consolation Games

The 2018 Twin Valley League tournament rolled along on Wednesday with consolation games involving teams that fell in the first round of the tournament.

Girls 

#13 Onaga vs. #8 Washington County -- Washington County won 61-16

Washington County pounced on Onaga early and used a strong start to earn the win 61-16 win. The Tigers behind a nine point first quarter from Tess Cecrle outscored Onaga 24-2 in the first quarter and by halftime led 40-4 going on to earn the win. Washington County with the win moved to 5-6 on the season and was led by Holly Delay who scored 21 points. Cecrle added 16 points for the Tigers in the win. Onaga with the loss fell to 0-10 on the season as Belinda Ames led the Buffaloes with 10 points. 

#11 Troy vs. #7 Wetmore -- Wetmore won 51-16

Wetmore Cardinal girls flew out to an early lead and used it to guide themselves to the 51-16 win. Led by a seven point performance from Alyssa Bloom Wetmore jumped on Troy in the first quarter leading 15-2 after one. Cardinals went into halftime up 26-8 and put the game out of reach for Troy with an 18-8 third quarter. Regan Osterhaus and Alyssa Bloom led Wetmore with 15 and 13 points, respectively moving the Cardinals to 5-5. Troy in the loss was led by Sidney Fleek who netted six points as Troy fell to 0-8 on the season.

Boys

#13 Troy vs. #9 Blue Valley --- Blue Valley won 62-60

It proved to tight battle as Troy and Blue Valley faced off and the Rams snagged the 62-60 win. Troy went up 24-19 after the first quarter lead by Reid Jasper who scored 14 points in the first and the Trojans went into halftime up 34-28. Blue Valley had a response with a 20-9 to take the lead and went to take the game. A trio of double figure scorers led Blue Valley has Jeremiah Duncan scored 14 points, Lane Peter added 13 points and Cole Montgomery netted 10 points as the Rams moved to 3-8 on the season. Troy fell to 0-8 on the year and was led by Reid Jasper who tallied 21 points, while Kipp Jasper scored 18 points and Tate Smith finished with 13 points. 

#11 Frankfort vs. #10 Onaga -- Frankfort won 37-35 

Frankfort held off Onaga to take the 37-35 win in TVL tournament consolation game action. The Wildcats behind three three-pointers in the first quarter pushed themselves to a 15-10 lead after one and went into halftime up 17-14 after a low scoring second quarter. A 9-4 third quarter gave Frankfort an eight-point lead but Onaga finished the game with a 17-11 fourth to make it tight but the Wildcats earned the two-point win. Mitchell Olson and Austin Hardwick with 13 and 11 points, respectively led Frankfort helping the Wildcats move to 3-9 on the season. Onaga with the loss fell to 2-9 on the season as Tanner Marten led the way with 20 points.
