It’s a regular occurrence for the Centralia Panther volleyball team, that is winning on the court and winning tournament title and they did it again on Saturday as they won the Hiawatha Invitational, competing against several other area teams. 

The action started with pool play and in the Red pool the Centralia Panthers notched a 4-0 performance to win the pool and earn a spot in the Semifinals. The Panthers pounced on their opponents for straight set wins each time beating Immaculata (25-13, 25-15), Lafayette (25-8, 25-23), Doniphan West (25-11, 25-8) and Riverside (25-5, 25-13). Second place in the pool was earned by the Immaculata Raiders who went 3-1 in pool play with wins over Riverside (25-8, 25-15), Doniphan West (25-23, 25-21) and Lafayette (25-8, 25-23). Lafayette picked up a pair of wins in pool play action beating Riverside (25-9, 26-24) and Doniphan West (25-22, 25-13), while Riverside earned a three set win over Doniphan West (15-25, 26-24, 26-24). 

In the Blue pool it was the Jefferson County North Chargers laying claim to the top spot in the pool as the Chargers went 4-0 to earn a spot in the Semifinals. JCN earned straight set wins over Atchison (25-17, 25-13), Horton (25-17, 25-6), Troy (25-22, 25-10) and Hiawatha (25-16, 25-11). Second place in the pool went to Atchison who finished pool play 2-2, as did Troy and Hiawatha but the lady Red won the tiebreaker finishing second in the pool. Atchison earned wins over Troy (25-9, 25-21) and Horton (25-12, 25-13), while Troy beat Hiawatha (25-21, 25-21) and Horton (25-21, 25-18) and Hiawatha notched victories over Atchison (25-18, 19-25, 25-20) and Horton (25-12, 25-13). 

Action rolled along in the Semifinals as Centralia was matched up against Atchison and JCN against Immaculata. Both the Panthers and Chargers each picked up another straight set win pushing them to the Championship match as Centralia won 25-15, 25-14 over Atchison and JCN earned the 25-17, 25-17 victory over Immaculata. 

In the Championship match the Centralia Panthers solidified the tournament title in their favor with a straight set win over JCN 26-24, 25-15 to go 6-0 on the day, while Immaculata took third with a three set win over Atchison (25-12, 21-25, 25-23).
