Centralia Girls Take Third As Team & Five Area Individuals Finish in Top 20 at 1A State Cross Country

Full 2014 Class 1A State Cross Country Results -- (girls results) (boys results

The Twin Valley League was well represented in Class 1A at the State cross country competition in Wamego on Saturday as five TVL schools had at least one runner competing in the State competition.

Centralia Panthers led the way at the State competition as the lady Panthers who qualified for State as a team registered a third place team performance to bring home a trophy as a team. Leading the charge for the Panthers was sophomore, Sadie Jones who ran to an eighth place performance with a time of 17:04.40. Kaitlyn Becker and Madison Boeckman both grabbed Top 40 finishes for the Panthers racing to 31st and 39th place performances. While, Hayley Ross and Julee Tryon rounded out the lady Panthers team score with their 52nd and 72nd place finishes. In the boy’s race, freshman, Dylan Boeckman who qualified for State for the Panthers raced his way to 27th place.

The top area boy's performance came by Frankfort Wildcat freshman, Brodric Shirley who race his way to a time of 17:50.30 to place sixth and help Frankfort finish fifth as a team out of 10 teams competing. Alex Roeder notched a 26th place performance, while the rest of the Wildcats finished 55th, 57th, 61st, 70th and 78th, respectively as Rylen Bailey, Noah Suther, Jacob Studer, Jaron Thomas and Brenden Levi earned those finishes. Amburley Kokoruda was the only lady Wildcat to compete at State and she finished 56th in the girl's race.

Wetmore Cardinal sophomore, Aaron Achten raced his way to a Top 20 performance, posting a time of 18:15.60 to finish 15th place.

For Valley Heights it was sophomore, Adrian Pishney coming up with the best showing placing 12th behind a time of 18:09.60 to lead the Mustangs. Alex Hardin raced to 28th for the Mustangs, while Devin Crumbley placed 53rd, Max Blaske finished 65th and Anthony Edwards tallied a 72nd place finish. Ilexus Rose competed in the girl's race for the Mustangs and the sophomore placed 25th on the day.

The Axtell Eagles saw sophomore, Burke Deters finish in the Top 20 at State as he raced to a time of 18:15.20 to place 14th in the boys competition, while fellow Eagle Oliver Schmitz placed 33rd. In the girl's race Susan Peschel had the best Eagle performance placing 33rd, while Chelsea Smith placed 37th and Paige Menninga ran to a 64th place finish.
