Brandon Schmelzle

The Axtell football team soared to their 32nd straight win this past Friday in a mercy rule win at Hanover. The two-time defending champs have been led by quarterback Brandon Schmelzle and has put up monster numbers even though the Eagles are playing most games until halftime.

Brandon completed 7 of 8 passes for 104 yards and four touchdowns while adding over 60 yards rushing in the game at Hanover.

The week before against Blue Valley, he completed 10 of 11 passes for 213 yards and five touchdowns. He compiled four more touchdowns three weeks ago in the win over Linn.

He’s thrown for 624 yards and 15 touchdowns in about three total games worth and has added more than 300 rushing yards and seven more touchdowns.

#1 Axtell travels to 4th ranked Frankfort this week which will likely determine the district champion.
