The reigning 8M-II Offensive Player of the Year may just get the award for a second consecutive season. Axtell quarterback Isaac Detweiler helped lead the Eagles to their second straight State Championship as they beat Thunder Ridge this past Saturday 76-28.

The Eagles scored 52 unanswered points to pull away from the Longhorns in the second half. Isaac was once again phenomenal as he accounted for eight total touchdowns and 380 yards of total offense.

Detweiler threw for 268 yards and seven touchdowns and rushed for 112 yards and another score. The seven touchdown passes ties the 8-Man state championship game record.

His 2022 season totals – 2,403 passing yards with 52 touchdowns and one interception while completing over 70% of his passes – he added 1,018 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns while averaging over seven yards per carry – Isaac totaled 73 touchdowns this season.

Detweiler also holds the all-time Kansas touchdowns responsible for record (passing, rushing, receiving). Isaac went over 200 total touchdowns in his career including more than 110 passing.

The Eagles claim their third football title in school history and go back-to-back with 26 consecutive wins heading into the 2023 season.
