Centralia Senior Maddy Lueger Helps Panther Volleyball Team off to 10-0 Start
Maddy Lueger

Since 2013, the Centralia Panther volleyball program has been on one of the best runs we have seen around the area. The Panthers won the state championship in 2013 and 2014, took second three years ago and are coming off back-to-back state titles. In all, Centralia has won 14 state titles since 1988.

After a 43-1 mark last season, the Panthers are off to a 10-0 start with their most recent victories coming in the Washington County Quad as Centralia picked up two-set wins over Washington County, Clifton-Clyde and Valley Heights.

Leading the way for the Panthers has been senior Maddy Lueger, who is coming off being named a first team all-state and first team all-TVL selection last season.

So far through 20 sets this season Lueger has put up outstanding numbers, recording 87 kills through 10 matches which equals nearly five kills per set.

She also has 10 aces on the season, and is at a 90.6 serving percentage on the season to go along with five blocks, 84 digs and six assists.

Last season, Lueger finished with 435 kills and had a hitting percentage of .310 to go along with 23 aces and 95.7 serving percentage.

Lueger and the Panthers are looking to continue their strong season and vie for another state title, as the season continues this week with the Axtell quad Tuesday and the Hiawatha Invitational on Friday.
