Marysville Bulldog, Atreyau Hornbeak Becoming Big Running Threat for Bulldogs
Atreyau Hornbeak

The Marysville Bulldogs offense has been dynamic all season leading the Bulldogs to a 10-1 record and appearance in the Sectional round of the Class 3A playoffs for the first time since 2009 which was the last year that the program won a playoff game before this season.

The passing game as been strong all year but the rushing attack has been strong too and the emergence of sophomore, Atreyau Hornbeak has made the Marysville offense even more dangerous. Hornbeak has put together his best two rushing performances in both playoff wins for Marysville.

To open the 3A playoffs Marysville topped Norton 62-21 earning their first playoff win since 2009 by beating the team they lost to in the playoffs the last two seasons. Helping lead the way to the win over Norton was Hornbeak who ran for 105 yards on just 15 carries and ran for five touchdowns, adding three receptions for 53 yards to his stat line also.

A long road trip awaited Marysville in the Regional round of the 3A playoffs and the Bulldogs picked up the 36-28 win over Larned and Hornbeak for the second straight game went over 100 yards rushing for 105 yards on 20 carries with a touchdown.

The sophomore tailback has come on at the end of the season and in the postseason rushing for 90+ yards in the last four games and on the year has ran for 660 yards with 14 touchdowns. Hornbeak also has four receiving touchdowns with around 300 yards receiving.

Hornbeak and the Bulldogs look to continue to find success on offense and on the gridiron as they look to continue their season as they host Cheney on Saturday, November 11th at 4:00pm in the Sectional round of the Class 3A playoffs.
