Hailey Macierowski

It was a dominate performance by Atchison at the KCAL track meet this year leading to both the girls and boys League titles by wide margins.

The lady Red took home the KCAL title by winning 11 of the events on the day and beating out the competition by 126 points. Helping lead the charge in those great performances for Atchison was junior, Hailey Macierowski who snagged three golds at the KCAL meet.

Macierowski raced her way to the top finish in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs behind times of 6:09.28 and 13:35.24, while also being a part of the Atchison 4x800 meter relay team that notched a time of 10:35.66 to win gold. In the 1600 Hailey earned the win by 16 seconds, while in the 3200 the win came by nearly 27 seconds. The 4x800 was dominated by Atchison as Hailey helped her team win the event by over three minutes.

The Atchison junior has put together other strong performances on the track this season taking second in the 3200 and third in the 1600 meter runs at the Royal Valley Invite. At the Perry Lecompton Invite it was a pair of fourth place finishes for Hailey in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs and at her home Invite she earned fifth in the 1600 and sixth in the 3200. At both the Perry Lecompton and Atchison Invite’s the lady Red claimed the top team spot in the competition.

Regionals are on the horizon and Macierowski looks to compete with several other top Class 4A competitors to earn a spot at the State track meet and continue her track season.
