Axtell Eagle, Bradie Schmitz Putting Together a Strong Senior Track Season
Bradie Schmitz

Axtell Eagle senior, Bradie Schmitz has been sprinting past the competition and registering top flight finishes on a regular basis for quite a while and that trend has continued this year.

Last week Schmitz notched three golds and silver at the Valley Heights Invitational as she won the 200 and 400 meter dashes and partnered with three fellow Eagles to take the gold in the 4x800 meter relay, while finishing second in the 100 meter dash. With times of 27.16 and 1:00.09 Schmitz earned first place finishes in the 200 and 400 meter dashes, while the Eagles 4x800 meter relay team registered a time of 10:31.87 to take the gold and a time of 13.17 gave Bradie second place in the 100 meter dash.

On the year Schmitz has won the 400 meter dash in all four competitions she has competed in while registering no lower than third place in any other event she has been a part of. At the Valley Heights Invitational earlier in the year she won the 400 meter dash and was part of the Eagles first place 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay teams. At the Nemaha Central Invitational earlier in the track season Bradie won both the 200 and 400 meter dashes, while the Eagles 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay teams each took third. The Eagle senior also competed at the Republic County Invitational and in the smaller division of competition won the 200 and 400 meter dashes, while taking second in the 4x400 meter relay with her teammates and earned third in the 100 meter dash.

As a junior, Schmitz captured the 1A State title in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.79 and took eighth in the 800 meter run and fifth in the 4x800 meter relay, along with eighth in the 4x400 meter relay with her teammates at State.

Schmitz has qualified for State in at least one event every year in her high school track career and in her final year is looking to close out her career in a big fashion as she looks to return to State and defend her State title and compete in several other events.
