Sabetha Bluejay, Alexis McAfee Helping Bluejays Take Flight to a 9-0 Start

The Sabetha lady Bluejays are soaring along off to a 9-0 start on the basketball court this year and helping lead that success has been the play of senior, Alexis McAfee.

The Bluejays topped Nemaha County rival in Nemaha Central to start last week going on the road and picking up the 60-41 win with McAfee getting the offense going early scoring 14 of her 18 in the first half, including four three-pointers.

On Friday Sabetha hit the road again and McAfee helped lead the Bluejays past the Kaws of Perry Lecompton as she scored 15 points in the 54-23 win.

Throughout the season McAfee has filled the stat sheet not only with her scoring at 14.6 points per game but in all other facets of the game, too. The senior is averaging five rebounds per game, 5.9 assists per game and 3.8 steals per game making an impact all over the floor as Sabetha has been dominate this season. McAfee’s best offensive performance of the season came against Marysville and Jeff West as she posted 19 points in each game, while she has recorded double figures in all nine games this season.

The senior has enjoyed a great career on the basketball court and after helping the Bluejays to more success this season plans on continuing her basketball career next year at Wayne State College in Nebraska.

The season rolls along for Sabetha at the Burlington Invitational and the sights are set to continue to fly along at steady altitude and find more success for the Bluejays with McAfee and her teammates determined to continue their winning ways.
