Johnson-Brock Eagles Volleyball Team Wins Class D1 State Title

Getting into the dance is the important part and once you’re in the postseason anything can happen. The Johnson-Brock Eagles were provided the opportunity to participate in the Class D1 State volleyball Championship in Nebraska earning a wild card berth and they made the best of the opportunity winning their first volleyball State title since 1993.

In the opening round the Eagles squared off with Howells-Dodge and earned the four set win taking set one 25-12, but falling in set two 20-25, only to respond with set three and four wins 25-19, 25-21 to win the match.

Moving on to the Semifinals, Johnson-Brock faced off with the one seed of the D1 State tournament facing Emerson-Hubbard. The teams traded the first two sets with Johnson-Brock winning set one 25-21, Emerson-Hubbard taking set two 23-25. Emerson-Hubbard then grabbed set three 26-28 but Johnson-Brock took set four 27-25 and won the match with a fifth set win 15-7, punching their ticket to the Championship.

In the Championship it was the rubber match for Johnson-Brock and Diller-Odell as they played each other four times before during the season and split the matches, but this time it was all Eagles. The Eagles took the D1 State title with a three set win over Diller-Odell, 26-24, 25-11, 27-25.

 

Johnson-Brock wrapped up the season with a 25-9 record and Class D1 State volleyball champs in Nebraska.
