Nemaha Central Thunder, Ryan Hasenkamp Helping Lead Thunder to Great Season
Ryan Hasenkamp

It hasn’t been the play of one single player for the Nemaha Central Thunder that has gotten them to a perfect 7-0 mark but the play of junior quarterback, Ryan Hasenkamp has sure been at the forefront of the great performances by Thunder players.

Hasenkamp has been at the helm of a Thunder offense that has dissected opposing defenses for 42 points per game this season and has used a balance attack. The junior most recently help Nemaha Central earn a big District win over Centralia, winning 43-14. It was a game in which Ryan was 9-11 passing for 206 yards with three touchdowns and ran the ball for 142 yards on seven carries with two touchdowns including a 74-yard touchdown run. The game was Hasenkamp’s second five touchdown game this season.

Ryan took over as the full-time quarterback this year and has been nothing short of stellar all season has he is 63-94 for 1,195 yards and 13 TDs with only two interceptions on the year, while rushing for 440 yards on 63 carries (6.7 yards per carry) with nine touchdowns. In six of the seven games this year he has accounted for at least two touchdowns, with four games notching at least three scores or more.

On the year Hasenkamp helped the Thunder snapped the 48-game Big Seven win streak of Holton; a game in which he was 10-16 for 172 yards with two touchdowns and ran for 80 yards on 15 carries with another touchdown. Ryan and his teammates also finished Big Seven play unbeaten assuring them at least a share of the Big Seven League title.

Two more games remain in the regular season and Nemaha Central behind the play of Hasenkamp and his teammates look poised and focused on chasing down a District title and playoff spot in Class 3A.
