Cooper Leach & Levi Watts

Touchdown, Doniphan West!! Levi Watts connects with Cooper Leach for the score. Those words were said with quite a bit of regularity last Friday night as Watts slung the ball around the field and Leach caught many of the passes, with the two connecting for five touchdowns in a thrilling 35-34 win over Valley Heights.

Down late in the game the sophomore Mustang quarterback, Watts found his senior wideout, Leach for the fifth time in the endzone with 5:29 remaining in the contest helping Doniphan West grab the win to move to 2-0 on the season. The dynamic duo put up staggering numbers in the contest as Watts finished 26-39 for 363 yards with five touchdowns all to Leach who caught 16 passes for 261 yards.

The success for Doniphan West in week two comes after starting the season with a 32-6 road win over Onaga a game in which Watts and Leach posted solid numbers, also. Watts finished the contest 16-23 for 227 yards with two touchdowns and a rushing touchdown, while Leach snagged six passes for 112 yards with three touchdowns, two from Watts and the other from Lane Spiker.

The Mustangs are off to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2011 and are already one shy of tying last year’s total, while winning their first TVL football games since joining the league last year.
