Royal Valley Panther, Elizabeth Blevins Off to Strong Start in Track
Elizabeth Blevins

The track season has started off with a bang for Royal Valley Panther senior, Elizabeth Blevins as she has captured multiple first place showings in competition.

Blevins helped lead the lady Panthers to a second place team performance at the Panther home meet last week as a total of 10 schools competed at the meet. The senior continued her strong season on the track with a trio of gold medal performances and silver to go along with them, competing on the track and in the field events. She sprinted her way to wins in the 100 and 200 meter dash competitions posting times of 12.83 and 26.58, respectively. While in the field Elizabeth leapt her way to a win in the triple behind a leap of 33’06.25 and took home second place in the long jump.

Both times in the 100 and 200 were improvements from her times at the Nemaha Valley Quad earlier this year, while her long jump and triple jump marks were improvements too at the Royal Valley Invite. Blevins took home first in 100, 200 and triple jump and second in the long jump at the Quad.

In the only other event Elizabeth and the Panthers have competed in this season she got a taste of the State track atmosphere in Wichita at Pre-State meet at Wichita State earlier this year. She took home first place in the long jump with a leap of 16’03 in the 4A-6A competition. Blevins also placed second in the 4A-6A triple jump competition and placed seventh in the 1A-6A 2,000 meter steeplechase competition setting a school record with a time of 9:21.64.

The Panther senior captured ninth place in the long jump in 4A at State last year and looks to continue her strong season this year for a return trip to State possibly in multiple competitions this year.
