Hiawatha girls basketball is off to an undefeated start this season and Kylie Nelson has been a big reason for the early season success.
Nelson scored 19 points in the RedHawks’ first game after the holiday break in what was a 52-36 win against Holton on Friday.
This season: 21.4 PPG, 34% from three, 4.9 RPG, 3.6 SPG, and 1.7 APG.
Kylie is Hiawatha’s only returning All-Big East League player from last season and put in a ton of work in the offseason.
Her best game of the season was right before the holiday break against Sabetha in which she scored a career-high 29 points while adding six rebounds, four steals, and three assists.
Hiawatha head coach Stacy Jasper: “Kylie is a great leader, has fantastic work ethic, and continues to make her teammates better through practices and play. Her greatest achievement so far this season is stepping up in every other statistical category other than just scoring. She leads our team in steals, is second in rebounding and has found a way to become a better playmaker, rather than just a scorer.”
