Mound City Panther Kendey Eaton Leads Team to Secon Place in Home Tourney
Kendey Eaton

An average of 17.7 ppg and 53 total points scored in your first three games and a second place for your team in the 55th annual Mound City basketball Invite not a bad start to the season for sophomore, Kendey Eaton.

Eaton helped her Mound City Panthers team start the season on a strong foot taking second in their home tournament displaying great performances along the way in the tourney.

The sophomore opened her season with a 15 point performance in a 44-33 win over Craig-Fairfax in the opening round of the tournament; she finished a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe.

Next up was Tarkio on the docket in the semifinals for the Panthers and they would have to battle from behind to earn a spot in the championship game using an 18-8 fourth quarter to top Tarkio, 51-42. Kendey chipped in 13 points in the win, going 5-7 from the charity stripe but coming up big down the stretch as she recorded eight of her 13 points in the fourth quarter going 4-5 from the free throw line in the fourth.

In the championship contest, Nodaway-Holt got the best of Mound City earning the 53-50 win giving the Panthers a second place finish but Eaton did her best to help her team in the competition scoring half of the teams points as she finished with 25.

Eaton finished the tournament with her 17.7 ppg average while averaging 4 rpg, 1 apg and 1 spg, throughout the tournament.

The Mound City Panthers look to build on a strong start to the season and second place in the tournament and Eaton along with her teammates look to continue to string success together throughout the season.
