Area girls wrestling teams competed at the Class 3-1A regional tournament on Saturday in Rossville. 

Teams competing were Maur Hill-Mount Academy, Centralia, Pleasant Ridge, ACCHS, Doniphan West, Horton, Royal Valley, McLouth, Onaga, Oskaloosa, Riley County, Rossville, Sabetha, St. Marys, and Riverside. 

The top eight wrestlers from each weight class advanced to the state tournament which will be held Feb. 28-March 1 in Hays. 

We had five regional champions with Holly Thacher of Oskaloosa, Emma Vice of Maur Hill-Mount Academy, Makinley Daniels of McLouth, Layla Kunhert of Doniphan West (pictured), and Emmarsyn Fordham of Onaga. 

Sabetha finished fifth in the team standings, Maur Hill-Mount Academy finished in eighth place, and Rossville finished in ninth place.
