Last night, the undefeated #2 in class 1A D1, Centralia Lady Panthers, took on the Frankfort Wildcats. As the regular season nears its end, the battle for sub-state seeding and league placement in the men's contest was fierce between Centralia and Frankfort.
Girls - Centralia over Frankfort 67-17
The first quarter was at a swift end 27-6 with Centralia in the lead. Frankfort turned over nine times in the first quarter. Centralia had six different players get on the board in the first.
The second quarter was another brutal one with a 17-3 out-score to lead into a 44-9 halftime. Deters had seven points in the first half and five steals. Centralia had out-rebounded Frankfort at the half 23-6.
The second half was a quick finish with the game ending 67-17. A lot of sickness and injury unfortunately hit Frankfort last night with many key players out of the contest, requiring many to step up. Parthemer led the scoring for the Wildcats with eight points and three steals.
Centralia had an outstanding total of eleven players score in the game, with six players scoring six or more points. Tava Gibbs finished with the most points with twelve points and eight boards. (ALL STATS NOT APPROXIMATE).
Boys - Centralia over Frankfort 46-37
Centralia jumped ahead 16-11 to start the first quarter of the contest against Frankfort. Both sophomores, Quinten Alderfer and Issac Reineck, would slice three-pointers for Centralia in the first quarter.
The second quarter would be a defensive showcase with Centralia only scoring seven in the quarter and Frankfort only scoring four. It was 23-15 at the half. Henry Hiedenman and Duke Timmel were leading the Panthers at the half with six points each.
The third quarter followed as yet another defensive battle with Centralia putting up just eight and Frankfort just six. Quieten Alderfer and Ben Haverkamp would snap two threes together in the third for Centralia.
The game would finish 46-37 with Centralia pulling away in the final quarter. Frankfort would bring it as close to nine but couldn’t shrink it anymore. Wes Anderson popped his first three of the game with less than a minute left to get him to eight points in total on the game.
Quentin Alderfer finished leading the night with twenty-one points and four boards, while also hitting three threes. Centralia out-rebounded Frankfort 36-22. (ALL STATS NOT APPROXIMATE).
Summary
The Centralia Girls move to 17-0 on the season and 7-0 in the league. The Frankfort Lady Wildcats drop to 4-13 on the season and 1-8 in the league. Centralia Boys are now 10-7 on the year and 6-1 in the league. Frankfort Boys drop to just 13-5 and still lead ahead of Centralia in the sub-state but have fallen behind in the league standings as Frankfort is now 6-3 in the league. Centralia will next play Linn this Friday. Frankfort will travel to Valley Heights this Friday.
