GIRLS = Holton 71, Rossville 61
It was the most points the Holton girls had scored since January 6th of 2017 as the Lady Wildcats won their third straight game defeating Rossville in their only Big East meeting this season. Holton forced 19 turnovers and was incredible efficient on the offensive end leading 38-25 at halftime and 58-48 entering the fourth quarter.
Elizabeth Schuster scored 23 points while Kaiya Taylor had 18 and Brook Willcott added 12. Holton played just six girls again and all contributed as Lili Tanking scored 8 points, Lora Larison chipped in 6 and Olivia Doney had 3. Holton improved to 3-2 on the season heading into a two week break before hosting Hiawatha on January 3rd.
Rossville was coming off a 62-53 loss to rival Silver Lake and suffered their second straight setback despite 23 points (seven treys) from Rylee Dick and Nora Burdiek who scored 18 of her 20 in the second half. Rossville is now 3-2 and winless in the Big East as they return to action January 7th versus Jeff West.
BOYS = Rossville 58, Holton 45
It was a tie game at 26 at halftime and Rossville only led 41-37 entering the fourth quarter. However, Holton went cold and nearly five minutes without a field goal to start the fourth quarter and fell down by double figures before dropping to a record of 1-4 on the season. The Bulldawgs made eight three-pointers and was 11 of 16 from the foul-line while Holton made just three triples and was 2-4 at the stripe.
Jack Donovan had 21 points while Cameron Miller scored 16 and both hit four trifecta's as Rossville improved to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in Big East play. Kameron Badura added 11 points.
Holton got 16 from Brayden Peek while Kerrick Dedonder added 10 and Brody Meyer scored 8 points in the loss for the Wildcats.
