(KLZA)-- Class D-2 top ranked Sacred Heart struggled early in the opening round of the Nebraska Girls State Basketball Tournament in Lincoln Thursday trailing 9-7 after one quarter.
After that, the Irish pulled away for a 45-23 win, outscoring 10th ranked Potter-Dix 38-14 over the final three quarters.
Senior Jade Hill scored all 7 points for the Irish in the first quarter, she had a game-high 19 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Haylee Heits grabbed 9 board and added 6 points for the Irish who had eight girls enter the scoring column on the day.
The Coyotes finish 20-4 on the season and did not have a double figure scorer in the contest.
