Horton scored the final nine points of the first quarter to take an 11-3 lead and never looked back in route to a double digit win. The Chargers only led by five at halftime and took a 29-23 advantage into the fourth quarter when Madison Blackburn scored five straight points to key a 9-0 Horton run that put the game away.
Blackburn scored 9 of her 13 points in the final frame while Daspin Brunning added her fourth double-double of the year with 16 points and 12 rebounds as Horton overcame 22 turnovers and just 12 of 29 free throw accuracy to improve to 4-1.
Oskaloosa was led by Jaden Courter, who scored 11 of her 15 points in the second half while Matti Molder came off the bench to chip in 8 points before Oskie dropped to 1-5 on the season. The Lady Bears had 24 turnovers and also struggled at the line going 9 of 28.
BOYS = Horton 59, Oskaloosa 47
An early 10-0 spurt game Horton the first quarter lead, but Oskie came back as Dalton VanHoutan hit a pair of treys to give the Bears a 16-14 lead in the second stanza. Horton responded as Channdler Knudson pieced together three straight and-one opportunities and finished with 12 points in the second quarter as Horton regained a 26-22 advantage.
Knudson stayed hot in the second half hitting a pair of trifecta's in the third and fourth quarter as the Chargers pulled away and Knudson finished with a career high 32 points. Alec Cowley added 11 as the Charger boys improved to 4-1.
Promising freshman, Jaxon Webb, had 12 points along with VanHoutan to pace Oskie while Braeden Pfau added 9 before the Bears fell to 2-4 overall on the season.
