Frankfort, Axtell & Centralia Highlight 1A Republic County Cross Country Regional

The Twin Valley League showed up in a big way on Saturday at the Republic County Class 1A cross country Regional as many area runners punched their tickets to the State competition. 

The Frankfort Wildcat boys edged Wakefield by eight points to bring home the Regional title and qualify for State as a team. Brodric Shirley led the Wildcats placing fourth with a time of 17:52.81, while Colton Parthemer also finished in the Top 10 placing sixth with a time of 18:09.87. Brandon Anderson, Whalen Kokoruda and Brendan Levi finished out the team score for Frankfort finishing 11th, 16th and 18th, respectively, while Jaron Thomas and Austin Hardwick both also ran for the Wildcats finishing 34th and 39th. 

Frankfort girls are also headed to State as they finished third as a team in the girls competition with only three girls schools fielding a team. Amburley Kokoruda (19th), Amber Bramhall (27th), Addison Colvin (27th) and Emma Rose (28th) will head to State. 

Burke Deters of Axtell posted the best time in the boys race on the day finishing with a time of 17:06.79 to lay claim to the Regional title and a spot at the 1A State competition. 

The Centralia girls will be sending a team to State as they took second only five points off of a Regional title. Sadie Jones and Tamra Jones paced the Panthers with times of 21:01.27 and 21:26.65 to finish second and fifth, while Maegan Koch and Madison Boeckman finished 11th and 25th. Dylan Boeckman is also headed to State for Centralia as he took eighth in the boy's race with a time of 18:14.81. 

Clifton-Clyde also competed at Republic County on Saturday but did not have any runners qualify for State.

The Frankfort, Axtell and Centralia runners now turn their attention the Class 1A State competition on Saturday, October 31st in Wamego.
