Frankfort & Jackson Heights Have Top Individuals at Onaga Cross Country Invite

On Thursday the Onaga Buffaloes played host to several other Twin Valley League schools and Jackson Heights, along with a few others from cross country action and several top performances were put together by the area runners. 

Leading the way on the boys side of competition was Brodric Shirley who with a time of 17:43.21 claimed the gold in the boys race for the Frankfort Wildcats. His teammate Colton Parthemer raced to a ninth place finish for the Wildcats with a time of 20:11.37, as the Frankfort boys took fourth as a team of the nine schools competing with full teams. Amburley Kokoruda grabbed a 19th place finish for Frankfort in the girl’s race. 

The top girl’s performance came from a freshman from Jackson Heights as Faith Little raced her way to the gold medal at the Onaga Invitational. While for the Cobra boys, Dalton Chartier and Andrew Pino placed 19th and 20th on the day, helping the Jackson Heights boys’ team take second place behind St. Marys Academy. 

The Axtell boys finished third as a team only three points behind Jackson Heights for second and were led by Burke Deters who with a time of 18:47.82 placed third in the boy’s competition. Oliver Schmitz and Kristian Scheibe also notched Top 20 performances placing 11th and 14th, respectively. 

Junior, Adrian Pishny led the Valley Heights Mustangs with his performance as he earned a silver medal with a time of 17:56.31, while Alex Hardin placed 15th for the Mustangs. Three lady Mustangs finished in the Top 20 as DeAndra Woodyard placed 10th, while Ilexus Rose followed her in 11th place and Skyler Saunders notched an 18th place finish. 

Centralia on the day was led by Sadie Jones who ran her way to a second place performance, while helping guide the lady Panthers to second place as a team finishing seven points behind Kaw Valley who took the team girls title at the Onaga Invitational. Maegan Koch picked up a seventh place finish for the lady Panthers, also, while in the boys competition Dylan Boeckman placed 13th for Centralia. 

The host of the action Onaga was led by a fourth place finish by Michael Eisenbarth as he posted a time of 19:16.58 to earn fourth, while his teammate Luke Marten registered an 18th place finish. 

A pair of sixth place finishes led the way for the Wetmore Cardinals at the Onaga Invitational as Aaron Achten (19:36.67) and Makayla Henry each finished sixth place. Elizabeth Hutfles placed 12th in the girl’s race for the Wetmore Cardinals to give them another Top 20 finisher on the day. 

The Washington County Tigers had a trio of gals finish in the Top 20 as Kyujung Lee, Rachael Wood and Emily Meyer placed 15th, 17th and 20th, respectively. On the boy’s side of action, Eric Miller registered the lone Top 20 Tiger finish placing 10th (20:12.11).
