Centralia Girls & Frankfort Boys Highlight Meet, While Troy & Onaga have Top Performers at Frankfort Invite

Four Twin Valley League teams got their track season's underway competing against each other as the Frankfort Wildcats played host to the Centralia Panthers, Troy Trojans and Onaga Buffalos.

At the end of the competition it was the Centralia girls and Frankfort boys coming away with the top performances winning the meet. Centralia lady Panthers posted 227 total points to claim first place, while Frankfort took second with just 107 points; Troy and Onaga finished third and fourth. In the boys competition Frankfort took home first with 208.5 total points, while Centralia finished second with 144.5 total points, Onaga and Troy finished third and fourth, respectively.

Centralia came home with 17 event wins on the day between the girls and boy’s competition, with 11 coming in the girl’s competition as the lady Panthers won 11 of the 18 events on the day. Sophomore, Sadie Jones and freshman, Katie Glatczak helped lead the charge for the lady Panthers each winning two individual events. Jones paced her way to times of 6:21.25 and 14:14.55 to claim gold in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, while Glatczak sprinted to wins in the 100 and 400 meter dashes behind times of 13.72 and 1:08.51. Jones added another gold medal to her day, after partnering up with Mayda Stallbaumer, Logan Whetzal and Madison Boeckman to win the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 11:55.93. Stallbaumer and Whetzal each won individual events, too for the Panthers winning the 800 meter run (2:43.79) and the high jump (4'07), respectively. Drew Kramer, Tara Bergman, Chelsea Huerter and Liz Hasenkamp all also won events for Centralia winning the 100 meter hurdles (17.76), pole vault (8'06), discus (96'05) and javelin (115'08), respectively.

In the boys competition it was senior, Darrian Turner leading the way as he claimed three gold medals sprinting to wins in the 100 and 200 meter dashes behind times of 11.37 and 23.54, while leaping to a win in the long jump with a leap of 19'05.5. Three other Panthers earned wins, all coming in field events as Joey Ferron tossed his way to first in the shot put (45'02), Wyatt VanDorn vaulted his way to the win in the pole vault (11'06) and Levi Koch leapt his way to gold in the high jump (5'04).

The Frankfort boys took first as a team behind seven event wins on the day with most coming on the track side of competition. The team of Riley Alhvers, Ryan Kraushaar, Christian Jackson and Jase Suther partnered up to post a time of 46.30 to win the 4x100 meter relay, while Alhvers and Kraushaar also partnered with Jacob Studer and Alex Roeder to win the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:50.66. Roeder and Studer each won individual events, too as Roeder raced to the 800 meter run (2:15.95) and Studer won the 110 meter hurdles (16.79). Jaron Thomas and Broderic Shirley each got in the action of capturing gold, too winning the 400 meter dash and 3200 meter run, by posting times of 59.84 and 10:44.27. One first place finish for the Wildcats did come in the field events and it came from Derek Kraushaar who tossed his way to the win in the discus with a toss of 123'09.5.

Lady Wildcats were only able to capture one first place finish coming in the 4x100 meter relay as Rebecca Adams, Makayla Rogers, Abra Shirley and Jessica Yaussi partnered up to post a time of 57.80 to take gold.

The Onaga Buffalos claimed eight first place finishes between the boys and girls competitions on the day. On the boys side five of those first place finishes came as Michael Bliss and Logan Marten each won a field event, Garret Ames and Michael Eisenbarth each won a track event and Onaga won a relay competition, too. Bliss tossed his way to the win in the javelin (146'00), while Marten won the triple jump (36'09). On the track, Eisenbarth posted a time of 5:16.85 to win the 1600 meter run and Ames won the 300 meter hurdles behind a time of 17.23. Eisenbarth and Marten partnered up to help the Buffalos win the 4x800 meter relay, posting a time of 9:29.31 with Brendan Melvin and Jackson Glessner.

For the Troy Trojans all three first place finishes were garnered in the girls competition with Holly Whetstine leading the way winning the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.74 and leaping to the win in the long jump, behind a leap of 12;11.5. Brylee Weidmer registered the other Trojan first place finish winning the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 55.05.
