Marissa Pribnow (Lincoln) and Derrick Davis (Orange Park, Fla.) are the Peru State Bobcat Athletes of the Month for April as announced recently by athletic director Steve Schneider.

Pribnow was named the April athlete for being named the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) Women's Golfer of the Week.

A freshman, Pribnow shot a career-low 80 in the Nebraska Wesleyan University meet and actually finished in a three-way tie for first. After a scorecard playoff, Pribnow finished in a tie for second. Her Bobcat team finished second as a team in the tournament.

Davis earned the April honors as he was recently named the HAAC's Baseball Player of the Week.  In addition, on Wednesday, it was learned that Davis was one of nine Bobcat football players who were named to the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame (NFF)'s Hampshire Honor Society.

A designated hitter, Davis went three for six last week to hit .500, along with having a slugging percentage of 1.500.  In both his last regular season non-conference and conference game, at his last at bat, Davis hit a two-run home run.

The Bobcat baseball team begins HAAC post-season play Thursday in Joplin, Mo., as the third seed in the double elimination tournament.

"Marisa and Derrick are good selections to be named as the April Bobcat Athletes of the Month.  As a freshman, Marisa is playing some excellent golf.  As a senior, Derrick is one of few two-sport athletes who have done well in both sports," noted AD Schneider.  In conclusion, Schneider added, "We are hoping for good things for both teams, as well as, softball, in the post-season tournaments."
