Peru State March Athletes of the Month Selected

Cheyenne Dalrymple of Stockton, California and Tommy Barnes Cusseta, Georgia are the Peru State Bobcat Athletes of the Month for March as announced recently by athletic director Steve Schneider. 

 Dalrymple earned the recognition after being twice named as the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) Player of the Week during the month.  Cheyenne won her first honor on March 10 after having hit .444 and having a .611 slugging percentage during a week which saw Peru State win four of five games.  The following week, Dalrymple again earned the honor as she continued her torrid hitting batting .514 on the week with four doubles and four home runs.  That week was the conclusion of the Tucson Invitational Games as the Bobcats went 9-5.

Presently, Dalrymple has a .485 batting average and a .803 slugging percentage.  She has six doubles, five home runs, and 17 RBI. 

Barnes was selected for the March honor as he earned the HAAC Baseball Player of the Week on March 17.  The prior week, Barnes had helped lead Peru State to a 5-1 mark.  During that week, Barnes batted .450, going nine of 20, with one home run, four RBI, and scored six runs. 

Currently, Barnes is batting .350 and has a slugging percentage of .583.  He has nine doubles, five home runs, and 25 RBI.  His five dingers and 25 RBI are team highs.  At this time in NAIA Top 50 rankings, Barnes is 30th in home runs per game (0.179), 39th in total bases per game (2.143), and 40th in total home runs (5).

AD Schneider stated, "Cheyenne and Tommy both had excellent performances during the month of March which were noted by the Heart of America Athletic Conference.  Both of them have helped their teams to good months."
