Rossville and Jefferson County North Girls Advance to Semifinals of JCN Tournament

The Jefferson County North girls basketball tournament opened up quarterfinal play on Tuesday night with two of those games broadcast on 103.9 KNZA. 

ACCHS 40, Rossville 49

This game featured two of the top tier scorers in the state with Kinzee Baurele for ACCHS and Rylee Dick for Rossville. 

Baurele finished with 26 points and 10 rebounds while Dick finished with 24 points and eight rebounds but it was Rossville who was able to hold on for the win. 

The Dawgs led 13-6 after the first quarter but the Tigers battled back to tie the game 22-22 going into halftime. 

Rossville led by three going into the fourth quarter and the defense was able to hold ACCHS to just six fourth quarter points. 

Rossville hit six three-pointers and went 13-of-22 from the free throw line. ACCHS had 23 turnovers in the game and finished just 2-of-5 from the free throw line. 

Perry-Lecompton 20, JCN 51

This game was all Chargers on their home floor as they raced out to a 22-2 first quarter lead and then would build it up to 32-3 at halftime. 

The Chargers forced a running clock in the fourth quarter and were able to cruise to the victory. 

Eight players scored for JCN led by Carina Johnson with 11 points and then nine points each from Gwynn Blattner and Lucy Noll. 

The Kaws played a much better second half but the first half struggles were too much to overcome. They were led by Tatum Calovich with nine points while Emmy Reed finished with five points. 

JCN had 15 turnovers, 26 rebounds, and finished 15-of-24 from the free throw line. Perry-Lecompton finished with 25 turnovers, 22 rebounds, and finished 8-of-15 from the free throw line.
