Fourth Quarter Offensive Woes Deciding Factor in Centralia's State Semifinal Loss

Centralia’s offense couldn’t keep up with Little River as the length of the Redskins was too much to handle. The Panthers fall in their state semifinal game 50-42.ac

Centralia was only able to make one field goal in the first quarter. As for Little River, they had six different scorers which helped them get a 13-6 lead. Oen Deters scored four points in the opening period, and the team shot just 1-for-10.

The Panthers got a much-needed three-pointer by Tatum Kramer to jumpstart their second quarter. Arika Feldman got hot for the Redskins but Deters was able to make another three to keep them close. Centralia would outscore Little River 16-15 to get them within two possessions at halftime with the score at 28-22.

In the third quarter, like the first quarter, Centralia made just one field goal. However, they made 10 free throws and gained some ground on the Redskins. They would trail 36-34 going into the fourth quarter.

Little River capitalized on the fact that Deters picked up her fourth foul late in the third quarter as they went an 8-0 run to start the fourth quarter in the first 3:23 of the fourth quarter. Centralia could never get into a flow offensively, and the Redskins did just enough to hold off the Panthers.

The Panthers as a team shot just 20.5% from the floor and only 21.4% from beyond the arc. They were also outscored 20-8 in the paint.

Deters led the team with 20 points shooting 5-for-19 from the floor and 9-for-13 from the free throw line. She is your Player of the Game brought to you by Farmers State Bank. Hayden Kramer was the most efficient Panther with nine points shooting 3-for-8 from the floor and 4-for-5 from the free throw line.

Centralia will play in the third place game tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
