Falls City Hosts Doniphan West and HTRS For Track Triangular

The high school track season got underway for a few area schools on Tuesday as the Falls City Tigers hosted Doniphan West and HTRS for a track triangular competition. 

The host Falls City Tigers hauled in the most first place performances on their home track in the triangular competition with 14 event wins between the boys and girls. The Tiger boys were led by a multi-gold day by Kyle Leafty who won both the 800 and 1600 meter runs with times of 2:31.19 and 5:04.27, respectively. Falls City also won both the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relays after registering times of 3:48.92 and 9:33.56, while Anthony Baker race to the gold in the 3200 meter run (11:59.64) and Cade Schawang won the 400 meter dash (56.22). In the field events three Tiger boys claimed gold as Jessi Dean won the triple jump (38'06.25), Zayne Heckenlively won the long jump (19'11) and Ben Bauman took first in the shot put (46'04.5). 

For the lady Tigers all five first place finishes came on the track as the lady Tigers won both the 4x100 and 4x800 meter relays behind times of 55.66 and 11:32.28, while Ellicyn Gilkerson won the 300 meter hurdles (56.49) and Cheyenne Dovel picked up the gold in the 400 meter dash (1:11.96). 

The HTRS Titans claimed 11 first place finishes on the day with a trio of golds from Allie Binder leading the charge by winning the 800, 1600 and 3200 meter runs with times of 2:42.10, 5:45.63 and 12:46.50. Logan Standeford picked up a pair of golds tossing her way to wins in the shot put (35'01) and discus (93'04.5), while Bailey Kuhlman won the pole vault (9'00) and the lady Titans won the 4x400 meter relay (4:55.06). The boys won the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 47.47, while Chase Hain took the gold in the discus (148'00.5), Nolan Schafer placed first in the high jump (5'09) and Jacob Railsback won the pole vault (10'06). 

Doniphan West brought home 10 first place finishes at the Falls City Triangular and had three competitors bring home multiple gold medals. Kenzie Blevins started her track season strong winning the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 13.55 and 29.26, while leaping to the gold in the triple and long jumps behind leaps of 16'00 and 34'06.5. In the boys competition both Carson Lackey and Kody Collins picked up a pair of first place finishes for the Mustangs. Lackey sprinted to the win in the 100 and 200 meter dashes behind times of 11.08 and 24.09, while Collins won the 110 and 300 meter hurdles with times of 15.54 and 43.41. 

Shayna Wilson and Calli Caudle also won events for Doniphan West as Wilson took the gold in the 100 meter hurdles (19.18) and Caudle won the high jump (4'09).
