JCN Girls Take Third, While Valley Heights & Jackson Heights Perform Well at 2A Republic County Cross Country Regional

Several spots at State were earned by area runners on Saturday at Republic County in Class 2A at Regional cross country. 

The top area team performance came from the Jefferson County North lady Chargers who qualified for State with a third place finish, qualifying by just three points ahead of the fourth place team. Carissa McAfee led the Chargers placing seventh behind a time of 22:12.30, while Rose Wendling finished 21st, Kayla Hutzell 23rd, Sarah Wiseman 32nd, Kendri Noll 33rd and Maggie Sharp 42nd for the Chargers. 

Faith Little of Jackson Heights had the best area girls performance placing fifth with a time of 20:58.52 to qualify for State while Hannah Davault also made State finishing 13th on the day.

Valley Heights Mustang, Adrian Pishny brought home the Regional title for himself to qualify for State, posting a time of 18:16.01, while his teammate Alex Hardin finished eight with a time of 18:16.01 to earn a spot at State. 

Tristan Funk and Ceara Funk each qualifed for the 2A State competition after Top 10 finishes for McLouth. Tristan posted a time of 18:04.48 to earn a fourth place finish in the boys race, while Ceara notched a time of 22:00.34 to finish sixth in the girls race.

Washington County Tiger, Eric Miller is also headed to State after a ninth place finish, as he posted a time of 18:18.91.

Troy, Horton and Valley Falls also had competitors at the Republic County Regional but did not have anyone qualify for State.

The JCN, Jackson Heights, McLouth and Washington County runners now turn their attention the Class 1A State competition on Saturday, October 31st in Wamego.
