Axtell Boys & ACCHS Girls Earn Top Team Performances at Nemaha Central Cross Country Invite

On a beautiful Thursday afternoon cross country runners from the Big Seven League, Twin Valley League and Northeast Kansas League all competed at the Nemaha Central Invitational in Seneca. 

For the girls it was the performance of the ACCHS Tigers that led the way, while on the boy's side of competition the Axtell Eagles picked up the team spot by just edging out Maur Hill by two points. 

The lady ACCHS Tigers were led by four Top 10 performances as Madison Bissell led the charge finishing first with a time of 21:54.00 and Beba Scholz grabbed second place behind a time of 21:55.70. MacKenzie and Madison Forbes picked up seventh (24:45.70) and ninth (25:08.00) place finishes, while Erin Hamilton placed 13th to round out the team score for the Tigers. 

A pair of Top 10 performances and four guys in the Top 20 led Axtell to the team title at the Nemaha Central Invite title Burke Deters led the Eagles placing third with a time of 17:58.10, while Oliver Schmitz raced to a tenth place finish behind a time of 19:27.10. Khristian Scheibe and Blake Porting raced to 12th and 20th place finishes for the Eagles. 

The top boys individual performance came from Adrian Pishny of Valley Heights who with a time of 17:34.20 won the boys race, while his teammate, Alex Hardin placed eighth (19:13.00). Ilexus Rose earned an eighth place finish in the girls race with a time of 24:53.60, while Rosa Blaske raced to an 18th place finish for the lady Mustangs. 

Centralia had a trio of Top 10 finishers with a total of four Top 20 finishers on the day. Sadie Jones led the Panthers as she notched a time of 22:06.70 to place third, while Madison Boeckman earned tenth place (25:41.90) and Shaley Hipp placed 15th. In the boys action Dylan Boeckman picked up a ninth place finish posting a time of 19:19.50. 

A second place performance for Jack Siebert lead the performances of Maur Hill-Mount Academy as he ran to a time of 17:40.70 to earn the silver medal. Ayden Black finished sixth with a time of 18:53.30 for Maur Hill, while Renz Pros placed 14th for the Ravens. Grace Siebert led the lady Ravens finishing fourth place with a time of 23:13.90. 

Four Top 20 performances led the day for the Onaga Buffaloes with a fourth place showing by Michael Eisenbarth leading those performances as he posted a time of 18:00.70, while in the girls race Maggie Revell brought home a sixth place finish behind a time of 24:22.30. Jackson Glessner and Belinda Ames earned 15th and 17th place finishes for Onaga in the boys and girls competition at the Nemaha Central Invite. 

Hiawatha had on Top 20 performer on the day and she finished in the Top five in the girls race, grabbing fifth place with a time of 24:06.20. 

Wetmore Cardinals only had three Top 20 finishers on the day as Aaron Achten placed fifth after posting a time of 18:32.60 and Jonathan Bailey-Hladky earned an 11th place finish, while Chandler Morfitt placed 16th. 

Washington County Tigers were led by Eric Miller who finished eighth in the boys competition with a time of 18:54.90. While, Joe Stegman placed 19th for the Tigers in the boys competition. In the girls action Kyujung Lee, Rachael Wood and Kirsten Kingsbury placed 11th, 14th and 19th for the Tigers. 

The host Nemaha Central had six Top 20 finishers on the day at their home meet. In the girls action the trio of Abbey Buessing, Karen Rivera and Katia Rivera placed 12th, 16th and 20th for the Thunder, while in the boys race Jordan Peterson, Colby Rottinghaus and Keegan Schmelzle placed 13th, 17th and 18th for Nemaha Central.
