NEKL Schools & Royal Valley Lead Area Performances at McLouth Cross Country Invite

The start gun fired and multiple area schools saw their competitors hit the course at the McLouth cross country Invitational on Thursday as several Northeast Kansas League schools, a few Big Seven League schools and even teams from the Twin Valley League competed in the action. 

Leading the way in the team finishes was the host McLouth boys team as they finished third, behind Christ Prep and KC East who finished first and second in the boys action. Pleasant Ridge boys tallied a fourth place finish, while KC Christian took fifth, Royal Valley sixth, Maur Hill-Mount Academy seventh, Jefferson County North eighth and Jeff West ninth. 

In the girl’s competition only four schools field teams and it were Christ Prep and KC East finishing first and second, while Pleasant Ridge and Royal Valley placed third and fourth as teams. 

The top individual performances came from Maur Hill as Grace Siebert with a time of 21:47.19 took home the silver medal in the girl’s race and Jack Siebert earned the bronze in the boy’s race with a time of 17:46.28. Ayden Black also picked up a Top 20 finish as he finished 11th.

For the JCN Chargers it was Carissa McAfee registering the only Top 20 finish at the McLouth Invitational as she posted a time of 22:32.96 to take fifth place. 

Jeff West Tiger, Makenzie Tucker claimed a sixth place finish to lead the Tigers on the day as she notched a time of 22:36.28.

McLouth had a trio of Top 10 finishers on the day as Braeden Pfau and Jordan Bulter picked up seventh and ninth place finishes with times of 18:31.30 and 19:00.81 in the boys race, while Ceara Funk placed ninth in the girls competition after posting a time of 23:19.74. Tristan Funk had the only other Top 20 finish for the competition hosts as he finished 13th on the day. 

Royal Valley had three Top 20 finishes with a pair of Top 10 finishes in the girls action leading the way. Kaytlyn Gooderl and Katie Henshaw placed eighth and tenth behind times of 23:04.57 and 23:34.03. While, Garrett Hicks raced to a 18th place finish in the boys race for the Panthers. 

Eight Top 20 finishes led Pleasant Ridge on the day as five came in the girl’s race. Taylor Satre lead the lady Rams placing 11th, while Cassandra Thompson finished 15th and the trio of Grace Wagner, Kaylie Warden and Grace Dedeke posted finishes of 17th, 18th and 19th. In the boys action Gabe Younger earned a 12th place finish, while Ronny Jared finished 15th and Clayton Price placed 20th. 

Valley Falls and Troy also competed at the McLouth Invitational.
