JCN Girls & Jackson Heights Boys Win Oskaloosa Track Invite

The Oskaloosa track Invite had a Northeast Kansas League flavor to it with Doniphan West and Veritas Christian also competing in the action on Tuesday.

The Jefferson County North lady Chargers charged past the competition posting 148 points to win the team title, as Jackson Heights girls took second with 99 points, just edging Doniphan West who finished with 92 points taking third place. McLouth, Oskaloosa, Valley Falls and Veritas Christian rounded out the girls team performances finishing fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh. The boys competition margin of victory was closer than the girls but Jackson Heights still won by 31 points, posting 136 points to take first, while Oskaloosa finished second with 105 points and McLouth took third with 76 points, one-point ahead of JCN who placed fourth. Doniphan West, Valley Falls and Veritas Christian placed fifth, sixth and seventh to finish out the boys team standings.

Of the area teams Doniphan West take home with the most individual event wins claiming nine first place medals at the Oskaloosa Invite. Kenzie Blevins led the way for the Mustangs by winning four events as she sprinted to victories in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes with times of 13.10 and 27.30, while leaping to wins in the long and triple jumps with leaps of 15'03.50 and 32'04.25. Calli Caudle also won multiple events for the Mustangs as she dashed her way to a time of 1:08.13 to win the 400 meter dash and posted a leap of 4'10 to win the high jump. Alyssa Clark, Kody Collins and Lane Spiker all won events winning the girls javelin (110'01), boys 110 meter hurdles (16.90) and 200 meter dash (23.80), while the Mustang boys also won the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 47.73.

The Jackson Heights Cobras struck for eight gold medal finishes with five coming in the girl's competition, as Kaitlynn Little led the way winning the 800 and 1600 meter runs behind times of 2:42 and 6:02. Hannah Davault earned gold in the 3200 meter run (14:17), while the lady Cobras won the 4x800 meter relay (11:23) and Becca Gibson won the shot put (33'09). On the boys side the Cobras claimed the 4x400 meter relay title with a time of 3:50, while Wyatt Olberding won the triple jump (38'03) and Seth Holliday won the 800 meter run (2:12).

Both Oskaloosa and McLouth earned five first place finishes on the day at the Oskaloosa Invite. For the Bears four of the five came in the boy’s action as Dillon Grother won the 300 meter hurdles (43.73), Braeden Pfau took first in the 3200 meter run (11:48), Kyle Hopkins won the high jump (5'06) and Ben Harvey claimed gold in the javelin (145'08). Madison Miller also picked up a first place finish for Oskaloosa winning the discus (123'10). 

McLouth had a pair of multi-event winners as Anna Moore and Remington Courter each won two events. Moore swept the girls hurdles posting times of 16.73 and 52.88 to win the 100 and 300 meter hurdles, while Courter won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.37 and leapt his way to the win in the long jump with a leap of 19'10.50.

For the Chargers of JCN three of their four first place finishes came in the relays as the lady Chargers won the both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays with times of 55.63 and 4:36, while the JCN boys won the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 9:28. Cole Bryant also brought home gold for JCN by winning the 400 meter dash after posting a time of 54.23.

Valley Falls had two first place finishes both coming by the hands of Reid Bunde who tossed his way to wins in the discus and shot put with tosses of 123'01 and 42'09.
