The NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships are set for the final weekend in May in Florida and a former Perry Lecompton Kaw is set to compete for Emporia State.
Emporia State junior and former Perry Lecompton Kaw, Colin Coleman is part of the four-man team competing in the 4x100 meter relay and with a time of 40.62 at the Rumble in Jungle meet in Pittsburg the Hornet relay team earned a spot the Championships. The time of 40.62 recorded by Coleman and his teammates is the fourth fastest time in Emporia State history.
During this track season Coleman raced to a fourth place finish in the 200 meter dash and eighth place in the 60 meters in the MIAA Indoor Championships, while also taking first place in the 200 meter dash in the Jayhawk Classic. While at the Crimson and Gold Invite was part of the 4x400 meter relay team that took first, while finishing third in the 200 meter dash and fourth in the 60 meters. Coleman throughout his three years at Emporia State has competed in the 60, 200 and 400 meter races while also being a part of the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams and also has earned NCAA DII All-Academic honors from the USTFCCAA.
Back in high school as a Kaw, Coleman his senior year capped his high school track career winning the Class 4A State titles in the 200 meter dash and also was part of the Kaws 4x400 meter relay, while also earning fourth in the 100 meter dash.
Coleman and his teammates are looking to cap the season with a strong performance in the 4x100 meter relay at the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships.
